BIG TEN CHAMPIONS

Well in case anyone didn't know, the ohio state buckeyes claimed their first outright big ten title since 1992. They were able to knock off the worst team in the big ten purdue to claim the title. I looked at some preseason polls and in most instances, they were projected anywhere from 4th-7th in the big ten. The only big ten coach that voted them #1 was Tom Izzo of Michigan State. I thought they would be pretty decent this year, but I dont think there are a whole lot out there that expected this result. At 23-4, 12-4 in the big ten, they went above and beyond all expectations. You gotta love coach matta and the way this team plays. He even asked some of his assistant coaches, " how are we so good?" Their response was that they play such great team ball. They have no real stars, and they have 5 or 6 guys that on any night can lead the team in scoring. 4 seniors will be departing at the end of this season. Dials, Foster, Sylvester, and Sullinger will be playing their last games at the big ten and ncaa tournaments. What a way to go out boys. They are now the #1 sead in the big ten tourney. Their first game will be between the winner of northwestern and penn state. I dont wanna throw out any predictions about the big ten tourney, because you just never know. There are still teams out there that need a conference tournament win to even make the ncaa tourney, so there are plenty playing for their lives. I guess I have never cared too much who wins the big ten tourney, but now that ohio state has won the regular season crown, they might as well try to win this bad boy too, especially to have momentum going into the big dance. I never expected a regular season championship, so hey why not more? Why not us? These guys are fun to watch. How far can we go in the big one? I still have that feeling, that i doubt we can be national champions, but the field is so wide open this year, and there is no true favorite. Connecticut appears to be the deepest and the best team. Duke is not on a roll thats for sure, with 2 losses last week, and mr all world redick has had some poor shooting nights. When he has those, you see how the team is. Now that it is march madness time, it is do or die, so if jj has a bad night, it is all over. Anyway i hate duke and i hope they get beat early. We have a chance. There is no longer a doubt in my mind. The Bucks have struggled behind the 3 point line for quite a few games now, and they are still finding ways to win, by going inside and just playing great defense. I am starting to believe the hype. They really are a great basketball team, and I emphasize the word TEAM. Matta will have these guys ready to go and i am more excited about the tourney than I have been in a long time. Go bucks and congratulations on that big ten title.
