LET THE MADNESS BEGIN!

The time has once again come for the march madness pool. This is now year #4 for mine, and I think we have increased a little each year. Last year we handed out 300 to the winner and 100 for 2nd, and 2 people tied for 3rd so we just split 30 bucks between them. It is 10 bucks per person again and only one bracket per person. The scoring system will stay the same as last year doubling each round, 2 points to go to the 2nd round, 4 to the sweet 16 and so on, 2,4,8,16,32,64. I will need all of the money and brackets on wednesday since the games begin on thursday. Good luck to all.

CUBS WIN CUBS WIN

On saturday May 10th, Abbey and myself travelled to Wrigley Field to watch my beloved Cubs battle the Arizona Diamonbacks. Arizona swept us out of the playoffs last season, so the Cubbies were definitely looking forward to this series. It was a 6 run 7th inning that led to a 7-2 Cubs victory that gave them back to back wins in the series and are trying for the sweep tomorrow. Alfonso Soriano had a big day as he was 4 for 5, as he slowly begins to bring that average back up to where it should be. New Japanese sensation Kosoke Fukudome also added a 2 run homer in the 7th to put the game more out of reach. This guy is a fan favorite. They went nuts everytime he stepped up to the plate and the bleacher bums cheer him like crazy as he heads out to right field. It was a beautiful day and we had great seats. Lou Pinella did not throw one tantrum the entire day and the Cubs get another one in the win column. Below are some pictures from the game and I am trying to get a video up as well, but having troubles thus far. Go Cubs Go! Ok here here is the video! The quality isnt great, but you get to hear the go cubs go song so that is the most important thing.

THE WINNER IS

BRYAN PERRY WITH 290 TOTAL POINTS. MARC BELLER CAME IN 2ND WITH 274 TOTAL POINTS AND BILL MCCONNELL AND BECKY HARDY TIED WITH 264 POINTS. THE TOTAL SCORE FOR LAST NIGHT'S GAME WAS 143 WHICH PUTS BECKY HARDY 15 UNDER AND PUTS BILL MCCONNELL 15 OVER, SO THAT LEAVES THEM STILL TIED. MY IDEA IS THIS AND LET ME KNOW IF THIS WONT WORK. NEITHER OF YOU TWO SHOULD BE EMPTY HANDED AT THIS POINT IN MY OPINION SO I CAN GIVE 15 BUCKS TO EACH OF YOU FOR STILL BEING TIED OR IF THAT IS NOT OK LET ME KNOW AND WE CAN COME UP WITH A NEW WAY TO DECIDE.

CONGRATS TO
BRYAN PERRY $300.00
MARC BELLER $100.00
BECKY HARDY $15.00
BILL MCCONNELL $15.00 PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS OK IF NOT WE CAN STILL SETTLE IT SOMEHOW. ONCE AGAIN THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED AND HOPE TO SEE THESE SAME NAMES NEXT YEAR PLUS SOME ADDITIONS!

UPDATED STANDINGS

The championship game is now set and it will be Memphis squaring off against Kansas. The winner will be decided monday night. As you can now see most people are officially eliminated from getting any more points. Here are the new standings with one to go. Once again for those done, thank you for participating this year, and spread the word and lets keep getting it bigger. Some still have the champion picked but are not able to place anyway. UPDATED STANDINGS

The final four has been decided and to those who decided to put all the number one seeds in there, congrats. I hear a lot of people say it is real tough to just take the #1's all the way, but it is for the simple fact that it has never been done. So you can now say that they nailed the seeds right on the head this year. I just got back from Detroit where I watched the Kansas/Davidson game, and it was pretty sweet. It was pretty much all Davidson fans. From what I had heard they got a bunch of free tickets and made the haul all the way from North Carolina. They had an amazing run and they had a chance to win at the end of the game as I am sure you all saw. I dont have anything narrowed down yet because many people have any of these 4 winning the championship, with most taking either Carolina or UCLA, but for the ones that have Memphis or Kansas winning, it is going to get very interesting now. Here are the new standings. The final four is next saturday and give yourselves 32 points if you advance a team to the Championship game next monday.
